RESUMO
Este artigo tem como escopo uma discussão e reflexão sobre os caminhos da educação brasileira em seu contexto histórico-social e as tendências pedagógicas no Brasil, discorrendo sobre a maneira como cada período histórico interferiu e/ou refletiu sobre a educação em um contexto geral brasileiro, ao mesmo tempo em que pontua as mudanças em termos pedagógicos, assim como na própria história desse sistema no país. As tendências pedagógicas são observadas por terem sua importância fundamental para a consolidação do sistema educacional ao longo dos tempos até nossa realidade atual, isso porque tais tendências estão diretamente associadas ao currículo e às práticas dos docentes. Para tratar do assunto, foi adotada a premissa de uma revisão bibliográfica, a qual nos permite conhecer melhor acerca deste tema a partir de diferentes fontes como: artigos, periódicos, revistas, obras, legislações entre outros. As várias leituras disponibilizadas apontam que, mesmo enfrentando dificuldades, o sistema educacional brasileiro conseguiu grandes conquistas e as mudanças que ainda se fazem necessárias não dependem somente do Estado, mas também de toda a sociedade, a quem cabe cobrar por uma educação gratuita e de qualidade.

ABSTRACT
This article has as scope a discussion and reflection on the paths of Brazilian education in its historical-social context and its pedagogical tendencies in Brazil, listing how each historical period interfered and/or reflected on education in a general Brazilian context, at the same time he points out the changes in pedagogical terms, as well as the very history of this system in the country. The pedagogical tendencies will be observed because they have their fundamental importance for the consolidation of the educational system over time to our current reality, because these tendencies are directly associated with the curriculum and the practices of the teachers. In order to discuss the subject, we adopted the premise of a bibliographic review which allows us to know better about this subject from different sources such as: articles, periodicals, magazines, works, legislation, among others. The various readings available indicate that even in the face of difficulties, the Brazilian educational system has achieved great achievements and the changes that are still necessary will not only depend on the State, but also on the whole of society, who are charged for a free and quality education.
